You Decide.

Is social networking a good idea to keep in touch with your friends or your family? What about promoting a band you just started? Since coming online in the late 90's, it's hard not to find someone who's not your friend on facebook, or who hasn't written on your myspace wall. But is social networking a good idea? Consider the pros and cons of social networking and answer these questions.

1) Should social networking be available to everyone?

2) Should there be an age limit on social networking sites?

3) How much information should be allowed on personal websites?

4) Is it really worth people's time to check their personal site everyday?

Parents should decide the minimum age for their own children to be able to enter a social network.

#4 I do not believe that it is worth peoples time to check their profiles or spend hours everyday on them. I can see how someone can justify checking every few days and that would be much better.

2) I believe that if there was an age limit on social networking sites people under that limit would still get into those sites by lying about their age. Its a good thought, but it would be impossible to enforce.

Aaron thinks that even though their maybe should be an age limit, there would be no way to control if underage kids get onto one of the sites. Personally, Aaron thinks that it is up to the parents to keep track of what their kids are looking at.

I think you can choose for yourself if you are old enough to handle social networking. Also I think that parents need to have some say in it.

Well if it is your personal website you need to be really careful about what you put. You don't want people you don't know to find out about your life like for instance where you live, your full name or what school you go to. With pictures you don't want anything that can get you into trouble or show a misinterpret of someone your not. There are bad people out there who will use some stuff against you so just be wise!

yes and there should be a Monitoring system but like face book there are to many things to watch to catch the posers. even though there aren't many of them.

I think how much personal information you put on websites is your choice. But I do think you need to be careful. Like not putting your last name, what street or city you live in, or what school you go to. Also you need to be careful with pictures. Careful that they don't have street names, school name, etc. Or that they don't show anything bad, aka you drinking, doing drugs, etc. There are people out to get you so you need to be careful!

#4 Sounds like a waste of time if u check it once every few days that would be alrite but the world isnt gunna change every 5 minutes

(Question #3) I think that the information you put on your website should be determined by you. If a person gets in trouble for the things they post on their site its their fault, they chose to put it on there.

(question #1) No. I feel that some people like perverts and small children shouldn't be allowed to go on social networking sites

if you want a personal profile you shouldnt put to much info about yourself cuz you dont know who is looking at it. you just have to be careful what you put on your own profile. you shouldnt look at profiles everyday

#1 NO I dont think that EVERYone should be allowed to participate in social networking just for the fact of somewhere along the way you could run into the predators. Although they say that there is a very small chance of even getting pick up by those kind of people.

#4 pretty much sounds like a waste of time, but i would check it every other day. But if you dont have nothing to do, then i'd say go for it
